EA’s Dead Space 2 multiplayer beta has until now been an invite only affair. However, for a limited time EA has decided to take request from gamers who want to take part in the online action. The actual process of signing up is not too hard. All you need is a Facebook account, some time and a lot of luck. Head over to the Dead Space fan page and “like” the page for your chance to join in on the fun. Just remember, by simply signing up you are not guaranteed access to the multiplayer beta so cross your fingers, kiss that horseshoe, wear your lucky rabbits foot and hope for the best.

Dead Space 2 is set to be released on January 25, 2011 for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.

The first set of images for Resistance 3 have surfaced via this Flickr account. The images don’t paint a bright future for the human race. Regardless, looking at this concept art has me anticipating the games release date.

If you’re wondering how the story continues, it is suggested that Joseph Capelli, squadmate of Nathan Hale will be the focus of the 3rd game. This hasn’t been confirmed by Insomniac, but so far it’s all we’ve got.

Neither Insomniac or Sony have announced a release date, but expect Resistance 3 to hit store shelves in late 2011. Continue Reading »

Speaking with Guardian UK, Senior producer Matt Webster spoke about the social networking aspects of Criterion’s upcoming title, Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit. After working on Burnout Paradise, Criterion had a lot of time to study how to make social networking work in video games. Now with “Autolog”, the name given to Hot Pursuit’s social networking system, Criterion is convinced that they have come up with an incredible networking experience for gamers. Continue Reading »

If you haven’t heard already or experienced it yourself, there seems to be a game-breaking bug in Metroid: Other M which leaves you completely stuck. There has been some complains by fans that this still hasn’t been fixed despite the problem being known for nearly a month now. Well it seems that Nintendo has found a way to fix the problem, but the solution seems to be more awkward than it should be.

Nintendo is actually asking people with the problem to mail in an SD card with the save file on it. They offer it free of charge of course, but I just don’t see many people going through the trouble of mailing it in. I wouldn’t call this a full on fix to the problem, but at least Nintendo is doing something about it. Still would make more sense just to release a patch, but I guess thats just not the way they role. Continue Reading »

We at BananaPixel love a good rumor especially when they seem as plausible as this one. Nintendo stated at E3 this year that their newest handheld, the 3DS, would see a release by the end of the year in Japan with North America getting it by early 2011. Well, according to a German tabloid, Bild, the handheld will be hitting stores in Japan on November 11. They also state that the 3D remake of Ocarina of Time, as well as a new Professor Layton and Mario Kart will be ready for launch.

The only problem with this rumor is that it seems to be just that, a rumor. Bild did not include their sources though that seems to be common practice for the tabloid, which might hurt the merit of this rumor. But don’t you worry, Nintendo plans to announce the official release date on September 29.

If you were one of the unfortunate few that purchased the shortly lived game, APB (All Points Bulletin), in lieu of a refund EA has decided to compensate you for your ill-conceived purchased. However, the compensation only applies to those who purchased the game online through Steam.

Some gamers have been reporting that after getting in contact with EA support, they have either received a full credit or discount towards another EA title (Mass Effect 2, Dragon Age, etc). If you’re looking to get a full credit towards another game, Steam member “Dragonshadow” mentions that if EA offers you a $20 credit, “point out how disappointed you are and that the game costs $50!”.

Hopefully EA stays true to their word and continues to offer APB buyers either a credit or a discount towards another one of their titles.

MAG will soon be joining the ranks of other Greatest Hits titles. On September 28th, MAG comes down in price to $29.99, which in this gamers opinion is an incredible bargin. The new price and badge of honour come just in time for Zipper’s big MAG 2.0 patch, which adds Move support along with a host of other new features. If you’re holding out for the next Zipper game, get ready to wait a little longer. Zipper is currently hard at work on Socom 4, which will be coming out early in 2011.
